How have other participants’ Regional Health Authorities taken dignity therapy and supported implementation through a department such as mental health, palliative care etc. Or are participants implementing as part of their practice or as a palliative volunteer? In my case, I am a volunteer with palliative care and am interested in applying my knowledge as a volunteer. I have brought the information to the RHA program director, and am waiting for some type of approval before proceeding. Just wondering what’s happening out there. (posted on behalf of JoAnn Egilson)

      Hi folks,
There is a Paaliative Care Management Network at Manitoba Health. The Network would pull otgether all the Palliative Care Coordinators for the various RHA’s. This would be an excellent forum in which to present the implications and effects of Dignity Therapy. Thanks, Karen

      Hi Karen,
I have been very well supported by my RHA in the implementation of dignity therapy. I am a social worker on a Palliative Care Unit and have been invited to talk about Dignity Therapy to MUN medical students as well as at the Regional Committee on End of Life Services. The support from the regional coordinator, unit manager, and physicians has been very warm and encouraging.
The Regional Committee has discussed ways to make Dignity Therapy available to people well before they reach the unit and I know they would like to see more consistency of service between urban and rural areas.
How are things for other people?
